A day in the life of Michael Rivas, a student at the Highlander Charter School.

This eight minute documentary short was made for the political science class "Building a Better World: Film and Social Change." Groups of four students were partnered with organizations and communities around Rhode Island to analyze and deconstruct contemporary social justice issues through the documentary form. My group worked with the Highlander Charter School, a relatively new charter school, to make a documentary following Michael Rivas on a day at school in order to personalize the turbulent political backlash the school is experiencing in light of recent education reforms.
